What can IPL™ FotoFacial do for me?
IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light), also known as FotoFacial is a non laser medical device that is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as facial skin imperfections, redness, symptoms of rosacea, broken capillaries, signs of photo-aging and sun induced freckles. The IPL™ can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and large pores. Commonly treated areas include the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. With IPL™ treatments the skin is rejuvenated and a more youthful appearance is restored with no downtime.
How does IPL™ FotoFacial work?
IPL™ is a non-laser medical device that delivers a series of gentle pulses of visible light onto the surface of the skin. The light is changed to heat energy as it reaches the level of the collagen beneath the skin surface. The energy is absorbed by the unwanted pigment and blood vessels causing shattering of the pigment and shrinking of the vessels. With this revolutionary new technology the damaged skin is treated without disrupting the surface of the skin.
How many treatments are needed?
A series of 4 to 6 treatments are usually recommended and treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart.
What should I expect during and after an IPL™ treatment?
Sun exposure should be avoided and sunscreen is a must before and after IPL™ treatment. During the procedure you will feel a slight discomfort similar to the snap of a rubber band. The discomfort is minimal, but some patients choose to have a topical anesthetic cream applied prior to treatment. You may have some redness for a few hours after your treatment which will then resolve allowing you to apply makeup again. You can go directly back to work or resume your normal activities following treatment. Because the full rejuvenation program is divided into a series of treatments you will see gradual improvement over time with the advantage of no down time!
